Club Goal: To provide an environment in which all members from novice to veteran will be comfortable.....and in which all may improve their fishing skills and enjoyment through a free and open exchange of information not only as it pertains to tackle and technique, but where, when and how we caught or last fish.
Meetings: Meetings are the second Tuesday of every month at the Golden Corral on Bobby Jones Expressway(US Hwy 520) in Augusta, GA. Meetings begin promptly at 7:00 P.M., so those wishing to eat should come early. Meetings are open to visitors. Membership and tournament fees are nominal.
Clark Hill Striper Club 2007 Highlights
Family Day was held May 12 at Mistletoe State Park in conjunction with the monthly club tournament. Children’s activities and fishing tournament were topped off by a fish fry at the end of the day.
CHSC raised funds hosting the June 16 Open DNR Benefit Tournament at Clarks Hill Lake--Proceeds from the Tournaments were used to support the Fisheries Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources with the purchase of six aerators in conjunction with the Appalachian, North Georgia, and Lanier Striper Clubs. In addition to the aerators, over the past seven years, CHSC has donated over $27,000 in equipment to DNR including an oxygen meter; an electro fishing unit used in the shocking boat; a 4-stroke, 75 hp Mercury outboard motor; aeration units; a fiberglass hauling tank for the McDuffie County Fish Hatchery and hatching jars.
Club members participated in the October 20-Rufus Sawyer Memorial Tournament, sponsored by the John de la Howe School in McCormick, SC. Members provided boats to take children fishing and also provided a hot dog/hamburger cookout for the participants.
September 29– An Invitational Tournament was held for the top-ten fishermen as determined by the Club’s points system with Mark Crawford winning the event. Top Points Winner Ricky DuBose was recognized as 2007-2008 Angler of the Year and Austin Daniel was Youth Angler of the Year.
Club members participated in the American Bass Anglers Take a Soldier Fishing tournament in November 2007. CHSC member Sid Robb’s team won first place with 29.9 lbs. of stripers.
